Dr. Ayub D. P. Junus, M.Sc., CMILT
Dr. Ayub Junus is an Indonesian entrepreneur, international maritime executive, and strategic business leader with more than three decades of experience in global shipping, maritime services, logistics, international business development, and cross-border cooperation.
He holds a Master of Science in International Shipping from the University of Plymouth (United Kingdom) and, in 2026, earned a Doctorate in Strategic and Global Studies from Universitas Indonesia, through the School of Graduate Studies for Sustainable Development. His doctoral research developed a strategic model to enhance the acceptance of Indonesian seafarers in the global maritime labour market, contributing to policy development and strengthening Indonesia's maritime human capital.
Following the completion of his postgraduate studies in the United Kingdom, Dr. Junus began his international career with Hanseatic Shipping Co. Ltd. in Limassol, Cyprus. He subsequently served as Country Manager of Buyers Consolidators Ltd. (Sea-Land Logistics) in Indonesia before establishing PT Junus International in 1993, marking the beginning of his entrepreneurial journey.
Today, Dr. Junus serves as Corporate Director and Local Strategic Representative of the Schulte Group in Indonesia, supporting the strategic development and expansion of one of the world's leading maritime groups headquartered in Hamburg, Germany. His responsibilities encompass ship management, crew management, maritime services, port agency, logistics, hospitality recruitment, healthcare workforce mobility, and international business development across Indonesia.
In parallel with his business career, Dr. Junus has represented the Republic of Latvia in Indonesia since 2007, initially as Honorary Consul and, since 2018, as Honorary Consul-General. In the absence of a resident Latvian Embassy in Indonesia, the Honorary Consulate General serves as Latvia's principal consular representation in the country. His responsibilities include promoting bilateral cooperation, facilitating trade and investment, supporting institutional engagement, and providing consular assistance to Latvian citizens and enterprises.
Throughout his career, Dr. Junus has worked extensively with multinational corporations, government institutions, industry associations, and international organisations. His professional expertise includes international shipping, maritime workforce development, business strategy, investment facilitation, regulatory engagement, organisational development, and cross-border partnerships.
In recognition of his contribution to Latvia's consular representation, Dr. Junus has received the Certificate of Merit from the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Latvia (2016), the Award of Merit from the World Federation of Consuls (FICAC) (2017), and the Certificate of Recognition from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Latvia (2024).
Beyond his professional responsibilities, Dr. Junus remains actively engaged in initiatives that support education, leadership development, maritime human capital, and community empowerment. This company serves as the parent of all subsidiaries whose shares are owned by Ayub Junus and his family, facilitating supervision through a single parent company. Each subsidiary operates independently and professionally, but at the parent management level, cooperation and sustainability between subsidiaries are ensured, where one company can benefit from the other company members.
The scope of subsidiaries' business activities includes ship & port services, logistics & transportation services, travel & tourism services, VIP protection services, trade & distribution, education & training consultants, and information technology.
PT Junus Internasional believes that business must continuously grow and is therefore always open to partnerships locally and internationally.
Our company has formed partnerships with and assists international companies in accelerating growth opportunities in Indonesia's mass-market retail channels by providing market intelligence, import licenses, warehousing, retail distribution, and consulting in growth planning and management.
