Ayub D. P. Junus
Ayub Dwi Pranata Junus is a highly accomplished and experienced individual with an impressive professional career. His journey began when he graduated from Plymouth University in the UK with a Master of Science in International Shipping in 1990. He then started his career at Hanseatic Shipping Co. Ltd. in Limassol, Cyprus, as a management trainee and deputy at its Indonesian office.
Mr Junus has held several prominent positions and accolades throughout his career. From 1990 to 1994, he worked as Country Manager in Indonesia for Buyers Consolidators Ltd. (Sea-Land Logistics) of Hongkong and established his own holding company, PT. Junus International, in 1993.
One of his notable achievements is the appointment by the State of Latvia as the Honorary Consul General in Jakarta in 2007, where he performs symbolic and consular functions for the Republic of Latvia, as per the 1963 Vienna Convention on Consular Relations and the other law and regulations on Diplomatic and Consular Services, a position that he still holds until now.
He was also awarded the Latvian Foreign Minister's Certificate of Merit in 2016 and the World Federation of Consuls Award of Merit in 2017 for his outstanding contributions to these organizations.
He is also the Representative of the Latvian Chamber of Commerce and Industry for Indonesia, the Founder and Vice Chairman of the European-Asian Chamber of Commerce, the Vice-Chairman of the East Asian Regional Committee of the World Federation of Consuls, and the Chairman of the North Sulawesi Province Tourism Promotion Board.
Apart from his professional responsibilities, Mr Junus is also actively involved in his ethnic community group of Minahasa to conserve its cultural heritage. He is a Deacon of the Protestant Church in Western Indonesia and serves as the Chairman of the Diakonia Foundation of the church for its 323 congregations.
Currently, Mr Junus is researching to complete his doctoral degree at the School of Strategic and Global Studies at the University of Indonesia.
